What is the Divisional Relay Carnival?
Every year typically on the Wednesday evening after the 3rd A-meet of the season, each of the 18 divisions comprising the NVSL holds a Divisional Relay Carnival at one of the division’s pools. For 2023 the Divisional Relay Carnivals will be held on June 28th.
All age groups, boys and girls, send one freestyle relay team (AKA the “freelay” - all four swimmers swim freestyle) and one medley relay team (different swimmers swim back, breast, fly and free in that order) and each team also sends boys and girls mixed age freestyle relays. Only relays are swum at the Relay Carnival.
As only one team from DH is
registered for each event at the Relay Carnival, the whole team must forfeit if
a designated swimmer does not participate. It is very important that swimmers
confirm their participation with the coaches for this event. Please do not
leave the meet after swimming in your relay. Please check with the coaches to
make sure you are not entered in another relay event.
The Division Relay Carnivals are scored meets. The winning
team is officially recognized and receives a trophy. Times from the Relay
Carnivals of all 18 NVSL divisions are collected, and the relay teams with the
top 18 times are invited to the All Star Relay Carnival Wednesday of the following week.
